Although we are always learning formally and informally, we officially started school two weeks ago. I planned for a rolling start with the schedule and routine established by August 15th. Isn't a plan great!

Well the rolling part of the plan is certainily in play. We seem to be rolling around and around ...

The past two weeks Cameron has been working on a literature study on the book Holes. He loved the book and has enjoyed many of the activities. He particularly loved making spiced peaches and sharing them with our family. We will try to post a picture.

Along with this novel, he has also enjoyed beginning a study of geology. We will be continuing this unit through the next few weeks.

Audrey is working hard on her reading skills and doing so well. Her favorite subject is math. We use Right Start Math which really brings math alive with manipulatives and games. She has been working on a unit study of habitats and homes and is having fun learning about animals and their homes.

I think by next week we will be in the groove again. Cameron and Audrey are anxious for coop to start and be back with their friends most of whom we have not seen all summer.

It will certainly help us get focused next week when all the schoolies (those adorable cousins and friends attend a school outside of their home) go back where they belong. It will be tempting to run all over for early field trips in virtually abandoned venues like the zoo before the pesky schoolie field trips have time to get underway. But, we do need to get buckled down as well so maybe we will schedule just one.

Welcome

Welcome to our little internet home. I hope you enjoy following our fun and learning. We are new to this whole "blog" world but hope we will find some kindred spirits along the way and provide a place for those who know and care about us to keep up with the latest activities and projects.
